The Cricket Club pays for the use of the pitch and uses the pavilion. It is also used by a Pro Tennis Academy. Park history
A campaign was started by influential residents to buy this land, thus saving it from being sold to developers, and in 1927 Willet Recreation Ground was opened. William Willet, who lived in Petts Wood, was a builder and campaigner for the Petts Wood locality. In recognition of all the tireless work that Willet did for the area, residents named the park in his honour. Willet is most well known for introducing in 1916, the ‘Daylight Saving Hour’, which we still abide by, to this day.
